Reading Analysis
1. The protagonist is Riva because she doesnt harm or hurt others in this story. Another reason is because she is a main character in this novel.
2. The antagonist is the Nazi party because they take people out of their homes, they also murder 6 million Jews, and Riva and her family is scared of them. They are also the antagonist because they are really just the "bad guys" in this story.
3. The story first takes place in Lodz Poland. Lodz soon gets turned into a ghetto in December 10, 1939. By the Nazis, Riva and her innocent family were placed into Lodz. The external conflict is the war and the concentration camps killing all the jews. When Riva's mom is taken away, that would be the internal conflict.
4. The story is taken into First person view because Riva is telling the story.
5. The tone and mood of the story is very disturbing and depressing. This is because its about a family and young girl going thrrough a lot of harships and trying to just stay alive when in reality, they did nothing. They are innocent and dont deserve any of this torture.
6. The external conflict is because it is happening to her and a lot of other jews and other innocent familys that just want to have a happy life.
7. The internal conflict would be when her mom is taken away. This is very hard for Riva because shes all alone with her siblings and she has to be a mother figure to her siblings. It is very hard for her to stay civil with her life and keep them happpy.
8. An example of an allusion is "How do you tell a sick child that he has no mother?" "How do you tell it to yourself?"
9. The climax of the story was when the Nazi soldiers invade their homeland. This is the climax because the Jews lives took a dramatic turn with things going on like changing living enviroments, losing friends and family and being taken into camps. life was very hard at this time and if it was me in this scenario, I would have commited suicide already.
10. The resolution was the Jewish girls going back to the camp until they were found by the Russians
