"The Cage" takes place in the late 1940's to early 1950's in Poland. Pilsudski made himself dictator of Poland in 1926 after world war one. Poland signed a nonagression pact with the Soviet Union and Germany but then Germany attacked them. The Leader of Poland at this time was Stanislaw Mikolajczyk and him and Hitler did not get along. The people in the story were affected by Hitlers attack by them getting brought to the concentration and labor camps. The nazi soviet pact of August 23, 1939 is when Russia and Germany signed a non- agression pact.
