Ruth Minsky Sender
Ruth Minsky Sender, born on May 3, 1926 was born in Lodz, Poland.Ruth has also written "To Life" on November 24, 1997. One of the biggest accomplishments Ruth has done was survive in the holocaust.She came up with writing "The Cage" because she wanted to tell what happened in her life and she wanted to tell some history to students and adults. Following the invasion of poland, Rivas siblings fled to Russia to escape forced labor. Riva, her mom and younger siblings are forced to live in Lodz Ghetto, where younger brother Laibele contracted tuberculosis. On September 10, 1942, their mother was taken out of the ghetto during a Nazi raid, leaving Riva to care for her younger brothers. She adopted them to keep the family together, which lasted until Laibele died and Riva, Montele, and Moishele were rounded up with the other reamining jews in the ghetto and sent to Aushwitz.
